Bankrupt Bad Boss es Give Trashy Money-Saving Tips to Employees (Northwest)

First of all, who in their right mind would expect management that had driven a company into bankruptcy to be qualified to give money-saving advice to employees? But it gets worse.

Northwest Airlines distributed a handbook to employees, who might be losing their jobs, that included money saving tips. That might sound like an admirable effort on the surface, but wait until you hear some of the advice:

"· Take a shorter shower."
"· Get hand-me-down clothes and toys for your kids from family and friends."
"· Buy old furniture at yard sales and refinish it yourself."
"· Volunteer two hours a month at a food-sharing program to get reduced-cost food."

Why not just come right out with it and say, Hey, living in poverty ain't so bad? But here's the clincher:

"· Don't be shy about pulling something you like out of the trash."

Now you, too, can be a bag lady or homeless person thanks to your experience at Northwest Airlines.

Northwest's advice has since been filed in the dumpster.
